2020 Recognition Awards
The Dufferin Women in Business Sparkle awards Gala will be postponed until November 2021. These judged awards will be back next year when we can once again celebrate together. This coming year the committee will work towards revitalizing the Gala with new and innovative ideas to continue to move forward celebrating Women in Business in Dufferin County.

The Awards
Rising Star
This award is designed to recognise emerging talent. This award is open to women who have not only already made a mark in business, but are also ‘women to watch’ in terms of future contribution. The winning entrant might be a future leader, or already head of a team; she could be just starting out in business, forming her own company, or quickly rising through the ranks This individual is consistently creating positive legacies and leading by example.
The Rising Star Award aims to reward the efforts of an entrepreneur who meets or exceeds the following criteria:
- Must own/work in business located in Dufferin County
- has created a successful and growing business through the application of commitment, dedication, hard work, ingenuity and innovation;
- must have been in business no more than three years;
- has achieved outstanding business performance in a short period of time;
- Demonstrates exceptional promise of continued growth;
- Serves as an inspiration for other new businesses;
- Demonstrates a commitment to the community.
Champion of Change
This award is designed to recognise a visionary in the field of business. For the person that has brought an outstanding vision to life, whether they created a brand new entity, or refreshed and strengthened an existing organization. The winning entrant could be someone that has adapted their business through short term and long term strategic plans to impact people, businesses and the community, setting trends and turning “traditional” ideas into new innovative solutions
The Champion of Change Award aims to reward the efforts of an entrepreneur who meets or exceeds the following criteria;
- Must own/work in business located in Dufferin County
- Has demonstrated short and long term strategic impact on people, business and/or the community
- Employs innovation and original thinking in both its operational and promotional activities
- Demonstrated their resiliency and ability to change
- Fosters creative and positive change within the community, for the community.
Inspiring Business Woman (Boss)
This award is designed to recognize an extraordinary woman who leads by example, lives on purpose and inspires others to be more and do more. It will recognize a woman who inspires employees or others through her work, ideas and example. Could be an owner or manager, she is leading her team or business towards supporting our community A beacon of positivity in the face of challenges, able to uplift her team, other businesses or the community through a positive outlook.
The Inspiring Business Woman(Boss) aims to reward the efforts of an entrepreneur who meets or exceeds the following criteria;
- Must own/work in business in Dufferin County
- Drives Vision – has demonstrated her ability to create a vision towards a goal. Remains focused and navigates her team or her business towards the success of that goal
- Creates an environment where everyone feels valued and heard
- Business women that is a trailblazer changing and creating new paths through her business and the community.
- Demonstrated the ability to inspire people to reach great heights of performance and success.
Community Connection Award
This award is designed to recognise a women actively involved in the building and fostering of business and community relationships This person should be someone who has been generous with their contacts and knowledge – one who has made a critical introduction or taken time out of their busy schedule to give much-needed help. This is the kind of individual who connects others to ideas and people of value without the expectation of financial reward.
The Community Connection Award aims to reward the efforts of an entrepreneur who meets or exceeds the following criteria;
- Must own/work in business in Dufferin County
- Good listener, positive attitude and approachable and has demonstrated collaborative ideas/projects throughout the community
- Participation in local community events and activities
- Demonstrated and helped other businesses unravel opportunities for increasing and developing their business
- Mentors others in building, connecting and growing business opportunities
- Must own/work in business located in Dufferin County
- Has demonstrated short and long term strategic impact on people, business and/or the community
- Employs innovation and original thinking in both its operational and promotional activities
- Demonstrated their resiliency and ability to change
- Fosters creative and positive change within the community, for the community.
